Hip fractures, one of the most common geriatric injuries, the incidence continues to rise in Latin America with an aging population, and is associated with adverse patient outcomes and significant costs. Many factors have a negative impact can be modifiable, like pre and post management, time of surgery, type of fixation. As patients age, the comorbidities increase, complicating the outcomes. The quality and consistency in the management of patients with hip fractures varies substantially from one country to another, and there is no standarization of the patway of treatment. One of the diffculties is the economical factor. To reduce the negative impacts and burden of disease, we are working to establish, and develop standarized pathway to treat this important disease in Latin America and globally.
