Current standard in osteoporosis diagnosis is dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA). The locations of examination recommended presently include femoral neck and lumbar region. Indications to DXA examination for osteoporosis diagnosis, are the object of constant discussions between the experts in Poland and abroad. In Poland, up to today’s date, none uniform standards of osteoporosis diagnosis and treatment have been developed. The purpose of this study is presentation and comparison a current canadian standards developed by Osteoporosis Society of Canada (OSC), under the leadership of the International Society for Clinical Densitometry (ISCD), with two submission declared by polish experts. One of them is an algorithm introduced by members of the Polish Osteoartrology and Multidiscipline Osteoporotic Forum and the second is presented by Przedlacki. This study take place to aim, indications and selection of locations by DXA examination based on this three algorithms.
