Application of negative pressure wound management in the treatment of burn and difficult wounds

Background. In patients with defined type of burn wounds locally applied negative pressure is the method of choice in these wounds treatment. Material and methods. The condition under which this method is succesful is to ensure appropriate local treatment of the wound bed, followed by permanent maintaining of the negative pressure within given wound. The study was based on applying of the computer controlled system generating negative pressure in the wound. It was conducted in the group of 31 patients with burn wounds of the alternative/defined current origin, after thermic-crushed trauma and in the selected types of infected wounds. Results. The results suggest that such a system implementation have essential impact on wound healing in pre-selected cases.
